So the election results came in yesterday, and I thought I'd go all unicorns, rainbows and sunshine today, instead of thinking about fears.
This is a little something I put on a tshirt for my childhood bestie Andra for her birthday .

Happy Winter

....that warm winter day when 10 different people say, "The calaniot are out! They're beautiful! You have to go see them! So you hike past the fields, and it turns out everybody was right. Lovely signs of winter.....

Coloring Notecards and Envelopes

I've just posted this little ditty on my Etsy shop. It's notecards for coloring in!
I'm kind of excited about this one. You've bought (or made) a gift
for a special someone, but don't have a card. So you print out the file
you have downloaded from my shop, and cut out any of the 4 little cards.
You cut a little, color a little, and voila! A homemade giftcard
AND envelope. The file is yours to print again and again.
(For personal non-commercial use, of course.)

Merry Christmas

Illustration confession.
On the left is the natural, untouched model.
On the right, however, she has been beamed onto a computer,
and, dare I say it?... photoshopped.
bad bits erased, crooked lines straightened, and artificial coloring added.
Oh, the shame.
(Merry Christmas!)

Kumquats

My inner calendar tells me winter is coming when I walk by Roxanne's house and see that the "tapuzim siniim" (chinese oranges) (kumquats) are ripening. And then for a few weeks I get to pick one off every time I go to check the mail or throw out the garbage, and taste that pucker-inducing citrus taste. And life is good.

Coloring on Kibbutz

So on our kibbutz, when a public space is deemed available, people pounce with all sorts of ideas as to what to do with it. Recently, just such a space opened up, and it was won by some craftsy women, (shoutout to Leora and Sheli) with the idea of having an art room for the community. YAY! So a meeting was called for all interested parties, and it was decided, as we sat and tried to make origami storks (with little success, I might add), to have a weekly activity.  And since I am working on making a coloring book, and since coloring is the new meditation, activity #2 was coloring my pages. And honestly, I had never colored one of my own pages before. So here is a pic of gezerites coloring
(note to self: next time bring wine),

and here is my coloring page (which I then kept coloring all week).

And now, for some shameless self promotion.-
I am selling downloadable coloring pages in my Etsy Shop.
And here, download a free page for your coloring pleasure. VardaArt coloring page.

Sunday Coffee Doodle

In Israel, Sunday is a regular workday.
So I guess you could say Sunday is our Monday.
Which explains my Sunday morning illustration......

Sukkah DIY

Sukkot is one of the few just plain happy Jewish holidays. No war stories. We commemorate how our ancestors lived in temporary huts while wandering in the desert, by DIY-ing our own Sukkah-huts, and hanging out in them for 8 days. This puts me in happy DIY mode, and also means that any visitors showing up get to eat al fresco (and therefore no worries about how clean the house is).

Gabi & Yemima and I made tissue paper flowers for the sukkah, from a tutorial I found via pinterest.
It's at https://liagriffith.com/diy-tissue-pom-poms/  I think they came out pretty sweet.

Happy Sukkot! Happy Fall!
